Course Synopsis

 

This course presents comprehensive of risk management, especially as it relates to the following insurance areas: property and casualty, general business, health, disability, and long-term care. The course explores some of the general principles and legal aspects of risk and insurance, and visits insurance policy and insurance company selection.

The chapters in this course take the student step-by-step through the answers to questions such as: What is it? How does it work? What are the requirements? Many of the chapters include information on where to learn more about the covered topic. Design features of the covered topics are included to help define and describe relevant areas. Each chapter also closes with an end of chapter true-false review.

The concise, well-organized format of the course allows the student not only to learn the material quickly, but to easily understand risk management tools and strategies. Appendix A  contains useful information about insurance company ratings (including information on each of the rating organizations). Appendix B provides contact information for the NAIC and for the deaprment of insurance in each state and Canadian province. A helpful glossary is also included, providing an additional resource for students, especially those who may have little familiarity with the areas covered in the text.
